Material Characteristics
The products are a range of non-oil extended grade thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs). They are block copolymers based on Styrene and Ethylene/Butylene, with two primary molecular architectures: linear and radial structures. The bound Styrene content varies across different grades, typically within the range of approximately 29% to 35.5% by weight. This specific chemical composition grants the materials excellent thermo-mechanical properties. Key characteristics include high elasticity, superior tensile strength, good abrasion resistance, and outstanding low-temperature flexibility. Furthermore, these polymers exhibit strong resistance to oxidation and weathering, making them suitable for demanding environments.
Material Application
These versatile SBS copolymers are widely used as high-performance modifiers and key components in various industries. Their primary applications include:
(1) Asphalt Modification: Enhancing the flexibility, elasticity, and durability of asphalt pavements and roofing materials, especially under extreme temperature variations.
(2) Plastic Modifier Compounding: Improving the impact resistance, flexibility, and soft-touch feel of rigid plastics like polypropylene (PP) and polystyrene (PS) without significantly compromising their strength.
(3) Adhesives, Sealants, and Coatings: Serving as a base polymer for formulating high-quality hot-melt adhesives (HMAs), sealants, and coatings, providing strong bonding strength and flexibility.
(4) Compounding for General Modification: Used as the primary raw material in compounding to produce customized TPE compounds for specific customer requirements.
(5) Consumer Goods: Suitable for applications such as toys, grips, and soft-touch components due to their safety and performance properties.
